1 council has no figure for January 2026. The map hatches each one and gives the reason.
- Ofcom leaves this figure blank for the Isles of Scilly. Its other 4G figures there add up to 100% without it, so no homes or businesses get 4G from all four networks. Isles of Scilly
How it is made
Open Index shows the figures as Ofcom publishes them, for the areas they were published for: the UK, nations and councils.
Larger areas use the publisher’s own figures, never an average of smaller areas.
Zoom in past council level and the map keeps the council shapes and says so, rather than inventing detail.

Before you use it
- This counts homes and businesses with a predicted outdoor 4G signal from all four networks. A place with coverage from some networks but not all counts as not covered here. Coverage from at least one network is higher.
- The networks predict their own coverage and keep updating their predictions. It is not measured on the ground, so signal can be worse than the map suggests.
- Outdoor means a signal outside the building. Indoor coverage is lower.
- Ofcom counts a premises as covered when the predicted outdoor 4G signal is at least -105 dBm.
- It covers all premises, homes and businesses together. The figure is a snapshot as at 1 January 2026, and Ofcom publishes a new one twice a year.
- Ofcom publishes percentages to two decimal places, so 100% means at least 99.995%.
- Ofcom publishes no figure for the Isles of Scilly.
Colours on the map
Fixed breaks, held for every period, so colours mean the same over time.
